Spencer is in his sixth season as the head coach of the Seahawks’ varsity team...In his 17th season overall coaching high school baseball in the area, having previously served as an assistant at Madison High School from 2004-2006, the head varsity coach at Centerville High School from 2007-2012, and most recently as an assistant at Herndon High School from 2013-2014. Last season he led the Seahawks to a 14 -10 record.  The Seahawks reached a 5th consecutive 6A Northern Region birth.  They upset the Madison Warhawks in the first round before losing to the number one seed, Patriot High School in extra innings in the second round.  In 2018 he led the Seahawks to a 16-9 record and a 4th consecutive 6A Northern Region berth.  After beating Osbourn in the first round and the rival, Madison Warhawks in quarter final, they fell to the Battlefield Bobcats in the regional semi-final game...In 2017 led the Seahawks to a 13-9 record and a third consecutive 6A North Region berth before falling to Westfield in the opening round...Also guided the team to a 13-9 mark and a regional berth in 2016, falling in the opening round to Battlefield...In his first year in 2015, guided South Lakes to an 11-12 record and their first regional playoff berth since 2003, and the Seahawks upset Conference 7 champion Lake Braddock in the first round before falling to Battlefield in the region quarterfinals...Spencer has guided teams to regional appearances in nine of his eleven seasons as head coach...Led the Wildcats to the Concorde District championship game in 2010 and to three regional appearances, twice advancing to the regional quarterfinals...Twice led the Wildcats to 16-win seasons, which fell just one victory short of the program record for wins in a season...Centerville produced 19 players that moved on to play collegiately during his tenure with the program...While at Madison, led the Warhawks junior varsity team to a 39-3 record in three seasons...Has also coached with the Great Falls Nationals, Vienna Mustangs, MVP Royals and most recently with the MVP Terps travel program, as well as with the MVP International Athletics program...Serves as a pitching instructor and camp director with the MVP Baseball School...A 1998 graduate of Madison, and a 2002 graduate of Greenville College in Illinois...At Madison, was an all-region selection as a senior, and then set school records for single-season and career strikeouts and pickoffs at Greenville, helping his team qualify twice for the Division III College World Series and being names a DIII All-American...Works as a sports marketing teacher...Resides in Herndon.
